National Teal Day

Today is September 3rd... National Teal Day! If you read this before you get dressed today put on something teal to support awareness of Ovarian Cancer Month. When someone asks you why you're wearing that color, tell them! Help spread the word about this silent killer and tell them about the symptoms!
I found the following information on the National Ovarian Cancer Coalition (COOC) website and found it very helpful and informative! (I did not know that "TEAL" stood for something, I just thought it was the color they chose!!!) :0)

"Take Early Action & Live" - the TEAL Initiative. If ovarian cancer is diagnosed and treated early, when the cancer is confined to the ovary, the five year survival rate is over 90%. That is why awareness of early symptoms and education about the disease are so important. It is this simple, yet undeniably powerful truth that inspired the "Take Early Action & Live" initiative. The initiative has two objectives: the first is helping women become aware of the four most consistent symptoms of ovarian cancer. The second is let women know if they experience any of those symptoms on a daily basis for more then a few weeks, they should talk to their physician, preferrably a gynecologist, right away.

85% of women do not know ovarian cancer's symptoms. The 4 most prominent symptoms of ovarian cancer are:

Bloating
Pelvic or abdominal pain
Trouble eating or feeling full quickly
Feeling the need to urinate urgently or often

Other symptoms of ovarian cancer can include:

Fatigue
Upset stomach or heartburn
Back pain
Pain during sex
Constipation or menstrual changes

*If symptoms persist for more than two weeks, see your physician.*

Soooooooo, go get dressed and wear TEAL today!
